Strange Pictures (2022)
Another fun Uketsu mystery with more free-form illustrations.
I read this back-to-back with Strange Houses and I enjoyed it just as much: it’s an intricately crafted murder mystery which uses drawings as a key part of the story.
This felt better paced than Strange Houses, with less of an info dump at the end. I felt I could put more of the narrative together as I went along, and the ending felt less abrupt. On the other hand, I prefer the more detailed illustrations from the other two books, where I can make some guesses about what’s unusual or strange.
Another fun read, so roll on book four!
